Great thanks to everyone who loves our Chinese New Year greetings e-card and the “calendar sphere”!
Some may wonder if we invented the structure and the foldings of the beautiful object. Well, the answer is, no. The structure was intelligently invented by Heinz Strobl whose website gave us a step-by-step guide to make a brilliant 3-D sphere with strips.
We spent a few days following the instructions and using around 45 pieces of our tape-calendar to complete it. And this is how the lovely sphere was made. Good application, right?!
Here is the link. Try it yourself.

The tape-calendar is available at our Gallery (Address: AG101, Core A, PolyU, Hung Hom, Kowloon), PolyU SAO’s Amenities Centre at Core S, and the university’s main entrance near MTR station and Core P.
As I walked through the halls of PolyU Design, I found this stuck to the wall outside the VC year 1 studio. Perhaps I’ll find other creations later.
